ASTAXANTHIN

1. DESCRIPTION OF ASTAXANTHIN
Nature has developed its own defense mechanisms against environmental stress—and one of the most effective is astaxanthin. This deep-red carotenoid, which is derived from microalgae such as Haematococcus pluvialis , is one of the most powerful antioxidants known. Its ability to neutralize cell damage caused by free radicals surpasses that of vitamin C or tocopherol (vitamin E) many times over. In skincare, astaxanthin is used as a smart active ingredient that not only protects against light-induced skin aging but also actively promotes regeneration.
2. EFFECTS OF ASTAXANTHIN
Astaxanthin acts as an invisible protective shield for skin cells. It neutralizes free radicals caused by UV radiation, environmental pollution, and oxidative stress. Studies show that it stabilizes cell membranes, thereby inhibiting inflammation, strengthening the skin barrier, and stimulating collagen production. This not only reduces fine lines but also repairs skin damage over the long term. Particularly noteworthy: Astaxanthin not only protects but also actively improves skin structure by promoting greater elasticity and resilience.
3. USES OF ASTAXANTHIN
Astaxanthin is often used in serums and creams because that’s where it works most effectively—by penetrating deep into the skin and unleashing its antioxidant and regenerative properties. It’s ideal for use in the morning and evening and can be combined with other active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid or niacinamide to ensure comprehensive skin care.
4. SKIN PROBLEMS THAT ASTAXANTHIN IS EFFECTIVE AGAINST
-
Oxidative Stress & Free Radicals – protects skin cells from premature aging
-
UV-induced skin damage – reduces DNA damage and inflammation
-
Fine Lines & Loss of Elasticity – promotes collagen synthesis and firms the skin
-
Hyperpigmentation & Uneven Skin Tone – regulates melanin production and improves the skin’s appearance
-
Dry & Stressed Skin – strengthens the skin barrier and helps retain moisture
