1. DESCRIPTION OF SALICYLIC ACID (BHA)
Salicylic acid, also known as beta hydroxy acid (BHA), is a naturally occurring ingredient found in essential oils and plants. It is known for its anti-inflammatory and keratolytic (skin-loosening) properties, making it an effective ingredient in skin care, especially for acne and blemishes.
2. EFFECT OF SALICYLIC ACID (BHA)
Salicylic acid works by accelerating skin renewal and clearing clogged pores of excess sebum. This effect is particularly beneficial in treating acne, blemishes and oily skin. Salicylic acid also has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties that are helpful for red and inflamed skin conditions such as rosacea.
3. USE OF SALICYLIC ACID (BHA)
Salicylic acid is often used in skin care products in combination with other fruit acids such as glycolic acid. It can be found in cleansing foams, facial tonics and peelings aimed at treating acne and skin imperfections. Its ability to treat keratinization disorders and psoriasis makes it a versatile active ingredient in dermatological care.
4. SKIN PROBLEMS AGAINST WHICH SALICYLIC ACID (BHA) IS EFFECTIVE
- Acne and blemishes: Salicylic acid helps reduce acne and clear the skin.
- Oily skin: By regulating sebum production, salicylic acid can improve the appearance of oily skin.
- Hornification disorders and psoriasis: Salicylic acid is effective against hornification disorders and can relieve symptoms of psoriasis.
- Couperose: Its anti-inflammatory properties make salicylic acid suitable for the treatment of couperose and other inflammatory skin conditions.
