Boris' Beauty Essentials

As an experienced makeup artist, Boris Entrup places great importance on high-quality products that deliver impressive results both in application and finish.

First, Boris cleanses his skin with a gentle cleansing foam, followed by a clarifying facial toner (double cleansing). This combination removes dirt and sebum from the skin and optimally prepares it for the active ingredient concentrates that follow.

Boris swears by the power of serums. His favorites are the Collagen Serum for greater elasticity and freshness, the Hyaluronic Lifting Serum for intense hydration, and the Vitamin C + Biobotox Serum, which reduces fine lines and uneven skin tone. During the day, he supplements this routine with the Lifting Eye Wonder and a protective day cream that shields the skin from harmful environmental influences.

For his evening skincare routine, Boris once again recommends double cleansing to thoroughly rid the skin of the day’s impurities. Afterward, he relies on the Retinol Serum, which regenerates the skin overnight. He also uses the Eye Cream for the sensitive eye area and the Collagen Night Cream, which intensively nourishes and restores the skin while you sleep.

What's important to know when I start a skincare routine?

It’s important to first get a clear idea of what I expect from my skincare routine and what benefits I’m looking for. The first step should therefore always be a thorough consultation (e.g., with a free skin analysis) to determine your skin’s individual needs. Knowing your skin type and the results you want to achieve is crucial for getting the most out of your skincare routine.

You can’t get by with just one product—that much is clear. A complete skincare routine includes cleansing, day and night creams, exfoliants, and various serums. All products should be compatible with one another to maximize synergies between the active ingredients and avoid unwanted interactions. There are ingredients that can cancel each other out, or combinations that can overwhelm the skin if too many potent active ingredients are used at the same time. This means that a well-thought-out, cohesive skincare system tailored to your skin type—such as the one offered by DOC.BERGER I EFFECT Medical Skincare—is the key to healthy and radiantly beautiful skin.

Is it normal to feel a slight burning sensation when using skin care products?

You’re supposed to feel the active ingredients on your skin! Especially with medical skincare, ingredients such as vitamin C, retinol, and salicylic acid… are highly concentrated. This means that a slight tightening, tingling, or prickling sensation is completely normal—it shows that your skin is being activated and is working. This activation is crucial because it stimulates the skin to naturally produce more collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid on its own. After all, you want to achieve the greatest possible effect.

You worked as Head of Makeup on GNTM and saw a lot of what went on behind the scenes. In your opinion, what’s the secret to beautiful skin for top models?

It’s clear that every top model relies on serums—and these are layered (applied in layers). The main skincare routine takes place primarily at night. That means as soon as they’re on a plane or check into a hotel, layering serums is the first thing on their list after cleansing their face: hyaluronic acid, collagen, vitamin C, retinol—depending on what their skin needs at the moment and the results they want to achieve. Masks, especially eye masks, are also important and can be found in almost every model’s handbag.

Plus, top models are practically glued to their water bottles and often drink 2–4 liters a day. Diet also plays a major role—rich in antioxidants, healthy, and eaten at the right times. And then, of course, there’s makeup: It’s crucial to have the right makeup artist by your side who can perfectly highlight your natural beauty. But this works best, of course, when your skin is well-cleansed and nourished—ideally with DOC BERGER EFFECT active-ingredient cosmetics.

What are the 5 common skincare mistakes you should avoid?

1. Not taking sun protection seriously enough: UV rays are one of the main causes of premature skin aging and skin damage. Many people underestimate the importance of daily sun protection, even on cloudy days or in the winter. Consistent sun protection is essential to shield the skin from harmful rays and prevent skin cancer.

2. Inconsistent skincare routine: Skincare requires consistency. It’s not enough to use skincare products only sporadically. A consistent routine tailored to the skin’s individual needs is the key to long-term results.

3. Neglecting eye care: The skin around the eyes is particularly thin and sensitive. Many people neglect this area, which can lead to premature wrinkles and a tired appearance. Targeted eye care is important to counteract these signs.

4. Popping pimples: As tempting as it may be to pop pimples, it’s best to avoid doing so. This can lead to inflammation, scarring, and a worsening of your skin’s appearance. It’s better to use targeted products for treating blemishes, such as the 15% Fruit Acid Peel, the Retinol Serum, and the Purifying Night Cream.

5. Sleeping with makeup on: Leaving makeup on your skin overnight clogs your pores and can lead to blemishes and premature aging. Thorough cleansing in the morning AND in the evening is a must to let the skin breathe and prepare it to absorb active ingredients.
