The face tonic is applied after cleansing by putting it on a cotton pad and gently sweeping it over the face, neck, and décolleté. It is not rinsed off and serves to refresh and calm the skin and to prepare it for subsequent care with serum and cream — like a bridge between cleansing and active ingredients. Ideally use it morning and evening, but it can also be used during the day for a refresh. I could never do without it.

Ich bin 57 Jahre alt und habe im Laufe der Jahre gelernt: Viele sparen bei der Hautpflege am falschen Ende – nämlich bei der Reinigung. Sie wird oft schnell und halbherzig gemacht, dabei ist sie eigentlich die Grundlage für alles, was danach kommt. Für mich ist die Kombination aus Reinigungsschaum und Tonic von DOC BERGER EFFECT inzwischen fast wie eine kleine „Religion“ geworden – morgens und abends ganz konsequent. Erst der Foam, der wirklich gründlich Talg, Make-up und Rückstände entfernt, und danach das Tonic. Das Tonic ist für mich dabei der heimliche Star. The Tonic Intense is suitable for impure, conditioned, and mature skin with a salicylic acid content of 2%. The Tonic Sensitive has been specifically developed for sensitive and dry skin, while the Purifying Tonic, with its AHA complex, is ideal for impure, oily skin.
A tonic is used to balance the pH of the skin after cleansing, remove excess sebum, and prepare the skin for the following skincare steps.
After cleansing the face, the tonic should be applied to a cotton pad and gently swiped over the face, neck, and décolletage - do not rinse.
The frequency of using a tonic depends on your skin type and the specific needs of your skin. However, it is generally recommended to use a tonic twice a day: once in the morning and once in the evening.
While both are useful products on their own, they complement each other best. The cleansing foam removes surface dirt in the first step, while the tonic provides a deeper cleanse and prepares the skin for subsequent skincare.
